I came across Aynhoe Park while I was browsing wedding venues and fell a bit in love with its ultra quirky interior. The atmosphere is luxurious, glamorous and a little bit mad! Beautiful, deeply saturated colours and plush fabrics are mixed with a menagerie of art, modern sculptures, real & faux taxidermy and other intriguing curiosities.
The site of Aynhoe Park is a few minutes from Banbury, in Oxfordshire and has links right back to the 12th century, but has had many faces throughout history. The building seen today was envisioned by the baroque architect, Thomas Archer, and later embellished and altered by Sir John Sloane in the 19th century. I won't go too much into the history as i'm sure we're all more interested in the design, but if you'd like to read more their wiki page has plenty of information...
Look at how beautiful these wedding set ups are! I've never seen such an original aisle, from the modern ghost chairs, the balloons and brightly coloured tassels.. and of course the floating giraffe & a unicorn! The lover of history and architecture adores the columns and traditional vases and the combination of such extreme styles makes it so whimsical and fairytale like. The wedding breakfast setting shows how well Aynhoe do classical as well as quirky, but part of me is expecting another animal just out of the camera shot...
Next time you feel the need for a bit of design inspiration take a look at Anyhoe Park's website (it in itself is a brilliant piece of design work) - the cellar bar has a totally different atmosphere worth looking at. I just wish it was open to the public!
